Each maiden wore a frock of spider's silk
that shimmered in the gleaming sun's caress,
but none outshone the bride in buttermilk,
organza lace and pearls upon her dress.
The groom stood proud, his crown of saffron gilt,
a stately king who could not but impress,
yet from his gaze I knew he'd forfeit crown
before he ever let his lady down.

The vows exchanged, so simple and sincere --
abiding love was pledged between the pair,
and then the groomsmen led a rousing cheer
joined in by all who had assembled there.
Such joy allowed no room for feud nor fear,
as every creature crawled from out its lair,
no predators nor prey this day of peace,
as all, of one accord, sought war's surcease.
