Ground Zero: We Remember

by Gypsymooncat

We remember

We saw the Towers crumbling in dust upon the street
We heard the screams of terror and the sound of running feet
We felt the fear, confusion, the anger and the shock
We could taste the bitterness and sensed the ticking clock...

This was the Armageddon; the end of all we knew
A message sent for each of us, but heeded by so few
The Middle Eastern war goes on with cries for peace unheard
While ignorance and quests for power overwhelm His word

No man is made of metal, nor are hearts encased in steel
We can't stand by in silence and ignore the way we feel
In number we add up to more than those who fuel the fire
If we were chained by peaceful link, we'd strangle flames of ire

Ground Zero serves to keep us all remembering that day
What other message do we need to change our warring way?
Those who died beneath the mass of broken steel and stone
Remind us by their absence it is now we must atone

We saw the Towers crumbling in dust upon the street
We heard the screams of terror and the sound of running feet
We felt the fear, confusion, the anger and the shock
We could taste the bitterness and sensed the ticking clock...

--0OO0--

In heart, soul and mind
Remember those gone
And those left behind

Through grief and sorrow
The sun will still dawn
For all, tomorrow
