A Poem About Never Being Too Old.

I Thought I Was Too Old

by Harry Craft

I thought I was old

That is what my

Doctor had told

He said get up and move

So, I went for the gold

Some thought me a fool

Others said I was bold

Running was so cool

Some thought I would fold

Diet was the right tool

I never gave up

Even in the heat

Some said, what’s sup?

When I came to the track meet

I sipped water from my cup

I thought I was too old

And around my neck

I wore a medal of gold

And heck

I was never too old
