a passing moment
Night Watch

Lightning flashes wake me in the wee hours. No sound yet. A distant rumble says the storm nears. As I stare through darkness raindrops patter on the windowpane. A tremendous flash bang shakes the house. A gust of wind like a sigh as the storm moves off. Released, I sleep.
