True Blood

by Mrs Anna Howard

Group A, Group B, O, and AB

Father is O, Mother is B

I learned today, I am AB

How could this be? How could this be?

Monotetra - each stanza has 4 lines, all lines have 8 syllables, all lines in the stanza rhyme, and the final line of each stanza repeats the same 4 syllables.

Thank you Marilyn Hamilton for introducing this form through her Horror writing club.

A man with blood type O and a woman with blood type B could potentially have a child with blood type B or O, and impossible to have a biological child with blood type A or AB.

Growing up, blood type testing was offered at science fairs for at my school. I often wondered if any cases non-paternity was ever revealed.

For our narrator, the answer could be non-paternity, adoption, or a simple case of parents misremembering their blood types.
