Early income for the family~ photo once was for advertising
My Home Cake Business
When I would decorate a cake
What they would ask for I would make
So many have remarked at how
They weren't computerized, like now
One of the few pans I would buy
I'd make it like that girl or guy
A Humpty Dumpty on the wall
Piano I hoped would not fall
I baked inside a coffee can
A Grain Belt beer cake for her man
I won a state contest, first prize
For judges ~ two freehand Popeyes
A friend had asked if I might draw
Upon a cake, a red chainsaw
Instead the chainsaw looked so real
She thought it was the biggest deal
The wedding cakes, Ms PAC-woman
And Tupperware, confirmation
But, these are only just a few
More than a thousand I would do
However, ones I mostly did
I tried hard not to show the kids
The naked boob-cakes weren't as nice
But I would get to name my price
Creating with my hands was fun
The best is what I really won
And that was keeping my "Mom's Rule"
I stayed home 'till kids were in school
