You are the apple of our eye,

This precious one that we adore.

We’ll stay with you forevermore,

Through thick and thin until we die.

This love we feel, you may ask why—

A dream once thought a closed-up door.

You are the apple of our eye,

This precious one that we adore.
*************************

We didn’t give up; we had to try,

This yearning held within our core.

A lasting hope we can’t ignore—

When you were born, we both did cry,

You are the apple of our eye.

Writing Prompt
This poem is the similar to the rondeau poem. The first and second lines repeat in the middle of the poem and at the end. Although only the first line repeats at the end. The rhyme scheme is normally ABba abAB abbaA(B). More information and an example.
