lightning bugs

A winding river

Is a beautiful sight,

When lightning bugs

Flash their tail light.

They hover

over the river flow

When night falls,

They start their glow.

They're not seen

During the day

When the light shows

They go away.

Do they go away,

Or do they stay?

Not being seen

By light of day.

When I was young,

I watched with delight

As the lightning bug

Lit the river at night.

Now I read

With dismay,

The lightning bug

Is going away.
