Her kind and goofy smile
Made me happy for miles and miles
I haven’t seen her in almost a year
Although, in reality, she is quite near
I miss her with all my heart
We should never have been forced to part
Her parents want to punish me
Stop her from coming, but they refuse to see
I’m not the only one hurting, here
They are also hurting that baby, dear
Not to mention many others
Not least of all my elderly mother
Since I can’t see her anymore,
Her mother has shut the family door
No one in the family sees
How she is or what she’ll be
The number punished is now nine
But they think what they are doing is fine
You know, there should be a law
Unless someone was bad and someone saw
You can’t keep your family from your child
You can’t punish because your emotions run wild
She told that child “Maw-Maw doesn’t love you”
After nearly three years I watched her do
Everything that a toddler does in a day
I even took her to see ducks and play
I have a box of all her things
Clothing, toys, gadgets, rings
Someday I vow to see her again
Then I will show her my love didn’t end
I only hope she will remember me
And that her trust and love in me can still be
We were so close writing this makes me cry
I want to see her before I die
I want to renew our relationship
And again hear “Love you, Maw-Maw” from her lips
