I write in sunshine, sleet or rain,
though hoping not for fame or gain.
There is no point to writing songs,
if just for ego this man longs.

Though time has value, it can drain.
I write in sunshine, sleet or rain,
I'd rather not just work or scribe,
if on lust's wine I will imbibe.

If faith is precious I'll not waste,
if bent ambition's fee I taste.
I write in sunshine, sleet or rain,
in God I trust, my heart's refrain.

For if I profit gold or fame,
I'll give it all to Jesus' name.
Secure God's purpose - that's my gain.

A quatern
A quatern comprises 16 lines X four quatrains, similar to the kyrielle. It has a refrain line. Line 1 of the first stanza becomes line 2 of the second stanza. It progresses until it becomes the last line of the fourth. It has eight syllables for each line and a set rhyme scheme. this one is aabb.
nd the 1st stanza 4th line is 4th stanzas first.
