A Decuain for the Picture This Club

Standing Straight and Tall

by June Sargent

As morning mist begins to slowly rise

and darkness flees before dawn's rosy light,

a bright red sentinel with clear, sharp eyes

stands ever straight and tall, prepared to fight.

Courageously the guard will sound alarm

whenever hungry predators come near ~

protecting precious fledglings from all harm,

performing duties without dread or fear.

He acts with inborn wisdom and foresight ~

survival is all creatures' divine right.
