Abrasions

by Debi Pick Marquette

To speak of this was not my plan

But it leaked out and that is fine

Could I use prayers, you bet I can

The problem's this right eye of mine

So many asked for me to tell

First, covid eye was doctors find

Then it turned red and it would swell

And in two weeks I end up blind

And as they say, long story short

I scratched the cornea somehow

Many infections they'd report

I see doc most everyday now

Abrasion they can't seem to clear

Antibiotics and steroid

And while they keep instilling fear

Drops every hour he has employed

So many ask, how do I write

Distracted but I've one good eye

In rhyming lines I find delight

I just don't want to say goodbye

And soon there will be a deadline

Perhaps a stem cell replacement

Then if it's still not a good sign

A cornea transplant event

I have had so many people asking what was wrong with my eye after a post asking for prayers for it. So instead of continuing the same answers over and over I had some say I should post about it.

The eye specialist was so afraid I would lose the eye because it was so infected. There was one infection over the other and then the scratch turned into abrasions and they got infected and for weeks they make me come in every day. The doctor even gave me his personal cell phone number to call him on weekends or nights if there were any concerns.

A new infection has attacked my eye, so they will postpone plans for the stem cell replacement. A cornea transplant is next in line
