Demonic
Six Six Six
by Terrence Francis
The author has placed a warning on this post for violence.
The humid air in Angola State Penitentiary hung heavy, thick with the smell of sweat, fear, and something else. Something foul. It started subtly, a whispered rumor, a chilling glance, a sudden surge of violence. Then, it was everywhere.
Sergeant Sam Simoneaux a man known for his stoic demeanor, had changed. His eyes, once a pale blue, now burned with an unnatural, infernal glow. His voice, once a gruff baritone, rasped with a hiss. The men under his command, trembled before his sudden fury. He began to preach of a dark deity, whispering of power and vengeance.
The lynching of young Craig Chevalier, accused of stealing a loaf of bread, was the first public display of Sam’s twisted change. The prison yard, usually a place of quiet despair, erupted in a frenzy of hate and violence. Inmates, whipped into a frenzy by Sam’s demonic whispers, tore into Craig’s body with a ferocity that chilled the souls. Screams and howls echoed through the prison walls, a chilling testament to the darkness that had taken hold.
The guards, once stern and disciplined, became Sam’s apostles. They beat, tortured, and murdered inmates with a cruel glee that horrified even the most hardened prisoners. Theft, rape, and unspeakable acts of violence became commonplace, fueled by the whispers of the unseen entity. Angola, once a place of punishment, had become a breeding ground for evil.
The warden, a man of faith and reason, was helpless. He tried to fight back, to reason with Sam, but the demon’s hold was too strong. He could only watch as his prison became a vessel for unimaginable horror. The screams of the damned echoed in his nightmares, a constant reminder of the evil that had taken root within the walls of Angola State Penitentiary.
