The Cake of Life

by Skyler Saige

I find life to be exhausting,

Like covering cake in a bounty of frosting.

Oh, how I struggle and plea,

Plea for a bit of sanctity.

Betty Crocker I must become,

To master this cake of life and make it fun.

Though trials and tribulations keep gnawing at me,

I strive; oh, how I strive, to simply be free.

Free of the struggles we all, no doubt, face,

Our own so troublesome; so hard to replace.

And thus, let me whip up this batter;

I'll stir and I'll stir, as it will make my life fatter.

Love and light shall bust through the seams,

And the trials may no longer feel so obscene.

Though still existent and exhausting,

On my energy it may not feel so costing.

Perhaps I'll delight in just a small taste,

A taste of the joy the cake that is life brings, interlaced.
