About the game in rhyme

Super Bowl

by Debi Pick Marquette

The party starts when fans tailgate

Each side can’t wait to learn their fate

After the snacks, they must hydrate

So beer's where they can all relate

As they gather for the big game

Teams start the same, one ends with fame

And it would really be a shame

If any player ends up lame

The first play is to kick the ball

When there's a brawl, they push and fall

At times the refs make a bad call

Until the end it's fun for all

The offense starts with quarterback

Defense attack will try to sack

When their player takes a bad whack

Then injuries throw game off track

A penalty to jump the gun

A hit will stun, which isn't fun

The ball is handed off to one

And to the end zone he will run

The quarterback completes his pass

A guy with mass, may kick some ass

And often there's a little sass

But most the time they play with class

Each player plays with heart and soul

Team as a whole, needs self control

And maybe just one last field goal

Can make them Champs of Super Bowl
