Mary did it

Mary wanted to climb a hill,
but didn't have a rope.
She was so sad she couldn't climb
and almost gave up hope.

Until someone took Mary's hand,
and helped her to the top.
Mary and her new friend climbed
up high and never stopped.

Mary wanted to run a race
but thought she was too slow.
Another racer took her hand
and said "READY SET GO!"

They ran around the track so fast
that both were in first place.
The trophies that were won by both
put smiles on their face.

Mary wanted to write a song
and learn to play guitar.
She tried to do it on her own
but didn't get too far.

The music teacher at her school
helped Mary learn to play.
Then Mary wrote a brand new song,
to sing that very day.

Mary wanted to learn ballet
but graceful, she was not.
She practiced in her room each day,
three hours on the dot.

She danced until her feet were sore,
She made her parents proud.
She'll be on stage, she knows, one day,
and dance before a crowd.

Now Mary dances on the stage,
she plays guitar and sings.
She joyfully makes people smile,
it's happiness, she brings.

She climbs up mountains to the sky
She runs at quick a pace.
She doesn't always win each time
but she enjoys the race.

No matter what you want to do
There's others who will care.
Don't ever give up on your plans
They'll help to get you there.

So many things we'd like to do
We don't know till we try.
Just do your best at everything,
Don't let your dreams pass by.
