First of all, I think this contest has potential for catastrophe.

Here are my thoughts in no particular order:

I do not know my race. I am neither white, nor brown, just kinda tanish. Known ancestry has me a Heinz 57 in terms of nationality. I have not done a scientific trace, nor will I. But when forced to fill in blanks, I check white.

I have known people who do not look like me who are very much smarter than I am. Conversely, I have known people who do look like me that are dumber than stumps.

I have known people who do not look like me who are knock-down gorgeous beautiful. I have known people who do resemble me that are very hard to look at.

I have known people who do not look like me who are much, much larger and altogether better constructed. I have known people similar to me who are very small.

I know of people who do not look like me who are artistically gifted and talented. I can not sing, dance, draw, paint, or even tell a funny joke very well.

America had a president who did not look like me who finally got healthcare for millions and millions of poor people. Every single President who looked like me could not get it done.

What are my non-fiction thoughts on race? I do not care how various races began. It is irrelevant. God breathed the breath of life into Adam and he became a human being. We all came from Adam. (Okay, some readers may insist that that is opinion – that’s your opinion.) That spirit breath is what distinguishes man from animal (not the opposable thumb).

My non-fiction thought is that God would not look kindly on me for discriminating against anyone, whether they looked like me, or did not look like me. Neither would God be very happy should I think more highly of myself than I ought.
