Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Life after any loss...................

The Show Must Go On!

Behind neatly tied back curtains,
and partially cracked mini blinds,
sunlight attempts interrupting my alone anguish,
about what could have been,
and what actually is.
I retrace a looping sobering status.

######

There is nothing I can do about it,
not one single thing.
My mind mimes screams,
as I go about mimicking living.
Performing the mundane interactive motions required.

######

I reply on impeccable cue,
“Good morning,
How are you?
Thank you.
Excuse me, please.
Take care see ya!”
Punctuated by a contrived, cheerfully compelling smile.

######

I always exit correctly,
and re-enter for all subsequent performances,
appearing remarkably ready if not willing
to continue my life’s revue.
Thank goodness for antidepressants.
The show must go on!
