Depression

Tough Life

by Raul1

No one gave me a chance
My early life was filled with many disappointments
Depression hung round like an evil fiend

Even in my twenties,
high school former classmates ignored
my attempts of becoming friends

No one wanted to talk to me
it was as if I were invisible
I didn't know what to do,
my depression deepened

My social life suffered
In fact, I had none
However, my parents were always there for me

Though I believed in God
I prayed for all of this to be over
It was tough living in this city
Everywhere I turned, I hit another brick wall
Depression had taken over my life

Sadness has overcome us all at one time or another. Either caused by a relative or close friend's death or from the girl or guy that broke our heart or just life in general. We all handle situations differently, some good, some bad. This contest gives us the ability to explore this. Your poem can also play into other emotions that are common to writing like this such as anger or depression.
