Memories of

Her Green Truck

by Jesse James Doty

Distorting my gorgeous view out my window
are sad memories of her green truck
with the white stripe
pulling up to see me

Both Sunny and I look longingly toward
the parking lot for her green truck every day

Always ready with a hug and a smile
she brightened the sunshine in our lives

Tears well up in my eyes
knowing she will never return
to care for me in the way
only she knew how to do

It will take a long time before
I will be able to replace her
All the more reason why I need
to find someone else
to fill that hole in my heart once again.

All I can say is Cindy, my caregiver left me last week, and it is hard to let her go.
