There's so much to love of Ireland

Old Man Remembers Ireland

by Reese Turner

There is so much to love about Ireland,
I hardly know just where I should begin!
There’s the obvious, the pubs and music,
Oh, I’ve had my time there, back when…

There’s just the beauty of the country
The green, the rolling hills, oh, the shore!
The charming lanes and roads that wind
Through villages and farms and more…

Of course, the hustle and bustle of Dublin,
Spiced by the music and art of Temple Bar,
The thrill of days and nights in Killarney, or
Galway, Cork, Kilkenny, or wherever you are.

And, did I mention, Ireland has great golf?
Whether inland, though hills, in lush valleys,
Or, links laid by the sea, rocky and rugged,
Whatever the scoring ,all will surely please.

Hungry? Guinness Stew, is my favorite, but
I never met a Shepherd’s Pie I did not love!
The Irish love to cook and eat – together –
And, their Irish desserts, best that I know of.

Are the Irish friendly folks to visit, oh, you bet!
From the time you get off the plane, all smiles!
The Irish treat visitors like long lost friends.
Pretty ladies, friendly gents, worth the miles!

Oh, dear, I’ve forgotten your original question.
Was it “what I liked best about my Ireland visit”?
Sorry, when all is so good, there’s none better,
It’s impossible to say one thing’s “best”, isn’t it?

Thanks for this prompt. It brought back some wonderful memories. Of course, the Guinness I was drinking while I wrote it didn't hurt... Cheers!
