Looking forward, but ...

Until then

by Wendy G

My faith is a seed, not even a tree,

But that’s what it will be, ultimately!

My faith is a thread, it’s not a strong rope …

The One who holds me is my Source of hope!

My faith’s just a rowboat, tossed by huge waves –

He masters the seas, and small boats He saves.

          ***

It isn’t the strength of my faith which counts,

But Who my faith’s in … and so my faith mounts

Little by little with each fresh new day.

I see Him at work, a Potter with clay.

He shapes, He moulds, and the kiln – yes, such heat!

But He guides the process, until I’m complete.

          ***

Right now, just as I am, I’ll hold onto Him,

And ask Him to help my faith not grow dim.

I want it to be like a candle of light,

I’m too weak to be a lighthouse so bright ….

Whatever I am, though with faith quite small,

I’ll give to Him, for He multiplies all …

          ***

But then on that day when I see Him at last,

The tree, rope, and boat – all that will be past.

There’ll be no clay pot, and no need for light,

For He Himself will be radiantly bright.

I’ll bow before Him, gladly give praise,

And worship my Saviour through endless days.
