Voice of Ireland

Three Hundred Miles

by Carlos' girl

I would know three hundred miles
In a green expanse
Softly as an Irish voice
Where the words entrance

Coming far to county Cork
Touch the Blarney stone
Feel the sky from south to north
Where the sea it shone

I would know your Waterford
I would know Kildare
I would know your every town
Magical and fair

All your whiskeys, all your stouts
I would drink your ales
I would love your crooked smiles
All of your travails

I would know your famine time
I would sip your tea
I would love your freckled child
On your mother's knee

Countryside so lyrical
James Joyce with his word
Such a land so beautiful
I have never heard
