A Little Late For That, Maybe?

by BethShelby

In the 60’s, Becky joined our company fresh from high school. One day, she came in and told us her grandfather had died. We expressed sympathy and asked about funeral arrangements.

“The company always sends flowers.”

“Oh, no.” she said. “That’s not necessary. There isn’t going to be a funeral. Mama’s planning to keep his ashes in a vase. He didn’t want to be buried. He said when he died, he wanted to be castrated.”
