Unsheltered

by Sugarray77

I wept within my garden during rain
unsheltered, as the silent droplets fell.
I wanted it to wash away my pain
that each pulsating heartbeat caused to swell.

Each clap of thunder oe'r my dripping head
rolled on, unheeded, echoing my grief.
Would that the storm's crescendo healed my dread
of facing life alone with no relief.

Perhaps, the road ahead will sometimes brighten
when rays of sunshine pierce the skies of gray,
and cause my heavy load to somehow lighten
as I recall the joy of former days.

When grief arrived arrayed in somber pain,
my tears fell with the rhythm of the rain.

In poetry class, Jim stated that the vast majority of poetry falls within four categories... love, conflict/war, religion, or death/grief/loss.

This is not autobiographical :)
