Three stanza rhymed poem on temptation

A Word to the Wanderer

by CrystieCookie999

Every sin, to begin, may seem harmless.
and the worst ones seem vile and charmless.
Shy away, stay away, there's a way to resist.
But if you give in, and you cannot desist,
then pray for the power to end it.
Don't persist in trying to defend it.

Sin's a range that can change any hero,
sending spiritual progress to zero.
We humans are likely to try
anything that looks good on the fly,
every flavor transgression may flaunt.
When you sin, Satan's likely to taunt.

It's been said by someone oh-so-witty
(and perhaps they were clever or pretty):
you should try every sin at least once,
and the best ones again, just for fun.
But it's wise just to step far away, don't delay.
There's a lifeline for you, if you pray.

Temptation Poetry Contest contest entry

Thanks to avmurray for a great illustration/photo.
Doing something "on the fly" means means doing it without thinking carefully about how it should be done. We've all done our share of idiot things.

Pays one point and 2 member cents.
