This work has reached the exceptional level
There's nothing like the love of one's firstborn

Restlessly, she sleeps

as she listens for the slightest whimper from baby girl.

Soundly, he tries to sleep

for he knows an awakening elbow will signal

it is time for him to pad barefoot towards tiny cries 

demanding diaper duty,

reassuring rocking, 

or a calming caress.

For physical nourishment,

he gently carries baby girl

to the communal bed to suckle. 

Theirs is a shared
