Thank you will not suffice,

To those who made sacrifice,

So young, brave and bold.

They won’t ever grow old,

It started with Bunker Hill,

The first American blood spill,

For eight years we fought,

To have British rule not,

Then seventy-four years later,

The south would turn traitor,

It was brother against brothers,

It made many sad mothers,

From the beaches of Normandy,

To Vietnam’s Ia Drang Valley,

Generations answered the call,

Now their names are on a wall,

Many buried where they fell,

Their stories never to tell,

They lay alone,

In a garden of stone,

Their deeds we must never forget,

They faced every possible threat,

They did this for you and me,

In order for us to be free.
