I Do Believe

by Heather Knight

When I see a dew drop
on a purple petal,
then dear Lord
I do believe.

When I see a sunrise
tinting the sky pink,
then dear Lord
how can I say
you don't exist?

When I hear a nightingale
singing sweet melodies
from the top of a sycamore,
then dear Lord
I imagine I hear your voice.

When I hear a baby
cooing in her cot
I quickly conclude
miracles are true.

When I smell a pumpkin pie
baking in the oven
promising melting marvels
in my mouth,
then I know
without a doubt
there is a God.

When I smell the lilac bushes
blooming in my garden,
announcing lazy days,
then I know
you're watching me
from up above.
