A Drinker's story

by jake cosmos aller

Edward Lee
Grew up in a family of drinkers
His father drank two beers, a glass of wine
and a glass of whiskey every night,

His mother drank a lot more
Mostly wine and whiskey
And was an alcoholic,

Edward Lee was estranged
From his siblings
Never drank with them

Until late in life
He discovered
The only way,
He could handle
Their extreme right-wing tirades,
Was if he had a drink with them.

Then he would chill out
And it did not matter,
As he drank his wine or beer.
Listening to the latest right-wing tirade,
Thinking, "whatever, Dude."
