Meaningful Poetry

For years I've yearned to write poe'try

and write it with simplicity.

With pen and paper I begin

and wonder if my thoughts will win.

I try to write each verse with rhyme.

For me free verse has served it's time.

Like playing tennis sans a net,

with free verse that is what you get.

I try to write on things we share,

like hope, compassion, loving care.

As we travel on down life's road,

it seems to lighten up life's load.

In closing let me say to you,

bring joy in what you say or do.

Those things are now long dead and gone

and we are left to carry on.
