In My Mind

by Douglas Goff

I believe in a supreme almighty God

yet I also have faith in the spirit of humanity

in my mind confusion reigns supreme

I believe in the sanctity of life

yet I believe in the safety of the mother

in my mind confusion reigns supreme

I believe that abortion is appalling

yet I find incest equally egregious

in my mind confusion reigns supreme

I believe that childbirth is sacred

yet I believe that rape is abhorrent

in my mind confusion reigns supreme

I believe in the rights of the individual

yet this should apply to both mother and the unborn

in my mind confusion reigns supreme

I believe in the indelible courage of mankind

yet I have seen the horrible atrocities committed by the same

in my mind confusion reigns supreme

I am a moral, conscientious, compassionate human being

yet I live in a world drowning in unimpeded sinful acts

in my mind confusion reigns supreme

polarized arguments and fights bear no fruit

love of the unborn, love of the mother, love of each other

the supremacy of confusion can only be defeated by Love . . .
