Superior Love Affair

Superior to all great lakes,
it's restless waves sway with the breeze.
To see it once is all it takes,
It's beauty brings you to your knees.

A silver sphere illuminates,
as moonbeams make dark water gleam.
The waves are calmer, winds abate,
it's like something out of a dream.

I hear a splash as seagulls dive,
in search of tasty food to eat.
The lake provides, the seagulls thrive,
fish swimming close become a treat.

A group of sailboats float by,
so quietly, nary a sound.
The bridge above, it towers high,
no other of it's like around.

This lake keeps secrets hidden deep,
so many ships and souls were lost.
Are spirits restless or asleep
in peace beneath waves tempest tost?

I lived my first years far away,
of this great lake I had no part.
But I'm here now, it's where I'll stay,
Lake Superior has my heart.
