Will You Remember Me?

Will You Remember Me?

I spied a monarch butterfly today -
a single butterfly upon its way.
It flew across the sky
as if it knew
it had a mission - saying, "I love you."

I haven't heard the words for many years,
and try my best to halt my flow of tears,
but heaven knows, I ask no more than this -
the sweetest soul to bless me with a kiss

or maybe tell me he does recollect
with fondness, how we two did once connect.
But like that butterfly, such beauty fades
into my dusk of aging, dying days...

I pray, hold fast to our committed love,
believing we are blessed by God above,
and when my time is up, and days are done
He'll see to it I find my special one.
