Amo, Amas, Amat

I, You, He or She loves

by Tom Horonzy

Eros and Cupid,
onymous eponymouses,
personified to govern love,
lift spirits high
or drown them low,
depending who voices
those three words,
and if they are repeated.

Infatuated, twitterpated,
enamored and charmed,
puppy love can be
invigorating within first love
but like a setting sun can be
exhilarating and intoxicating
but most are one and done.

True love's recipe,
on the other hand
is battered and stirred
with a few broken eggs
mixed in, shells included,
to be strained, then freed
of annoying debris
to have it rise deliciously
rather than settling flat.

Moaning and groaning,
bellyaching and complaining
never makes love taste better
whereas calling each other
sugar and dear would be
tangible evidence of blooms
through the days of our lives.

Starving for Love writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
The topic for this poetry contest is Love

Write a poem, any form, that somehow incorporates the topic. The poem does not have to be specifically about the topic and creative approaches are welcomed. But contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for a winner.

I have taken poetic license with eponymouses, whose plural is eponyms, and yes mixed in, may indeed be a dangling modifier, but live with it. Even the great ones made mistakes.
Collage photographs were taken by me of friends, family, and even an elderly couple on a cruise that epitomizes the look of love.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
