An unrequited love in flower form.

A chapter in the book Daydreams from the Ashes

She Loves Me Not

by K. Olsen

She loves me, she loves me not—

plucking my kindnesses

like daisy petals,

just to fling them over her shoulder.

She loves me, she loves me not—

twisting my heart

like a pinched stem,

just to drop it into the pond.

She loves me, she loves me not—

leaving me bereft in the dust

like half-upturned roots,

just to link hands with him.

Never wishing to see.

Never seeing.

Never me.
