Can anyone handle it?
The view from up atop this tier,
erection beyond any peer
is gifting us the dream of might:
A room. Control. Unheld insight.
It's not the starship Enterprise
or science fiction paralysed
by cardboard sets and phantom lights,
it's catastrophic, life's demise.
The smallest of conceptual motes
split into pairs without a vote,
unseen infinitesimal...
Immense destruction, animals
would never seek to harness this,
efficient, clean, so green, the bliss,
we sit upon the mushroom throne
and play, complacently condone
the normalising of this power.
Strike a match.
There's no more tower.
