Spring Cleaning!

by Boogienights

"A young man's fancy turns to love",
when springtime rolls around.
Warm winds prevail, flowers bloom
and happiness abounds.

The earth renews, the Robins sing,
the budding trees turn green.
All of this, so beautiful,
yet, all I do is clean.

Spring cleaning shouldn't be a thing,
but sadly, it exists.
My mom ingrained it into me,
won't change with just a wish.

I wash the curtains, clean the rugs,
I dust until I'm weak,
each ledge and every doorframe,
each dusty old antique.

I cannot rest until it's done,
something I should ignore.
But mom said it's the thing to do,
although it's just a bore.

I guess deep cleaning doesn't hurt,
for one spring day it's here.
Especially when I don't clean
at all, rest of the year!

Still, when it's done, spring will delight,
the rivers, flowers, fields,
All of the lovely joy spring brings,
the sights and smells it yields.

Then in the tall grass I will lie,
sweet lilac scent surrounds.
The beauty mother nature brings,
each spring truly astounds.
