Just me

A Senior Person

by prettybluebirds

Let's see, how would I describe myself? Old might be a good word, but I don't feel old. So, I guess that makes me a senior person in denial. My health is excellent, so I can say I'm healthy in all honesty. Cat lady? Oh, yes! Cats are my weakness or my strength; however one wants to look at it. I have rescued hundreds of them in my lifetime.

Looks-wise? I suppose I would say I'm average looking. Maybe a tad overweight, but not much. My hair is the same reddish-brown it has always been. Our hair never turns gray in my family, which is fun because folks think we are younger than we actually are. However, I would trade the no gray hair gene for a no heart disease gene any day. I had a heart attack at age fifty-four because of that lovely inherited gene. No matter, it happened twenty-two years ago, and I have been fine since. (positive thinking)

I have a marvelous sense of humor. Growing up with seven brothers and four sisters, one needed the humor to survive. My brothers could be obnoxious little beasts and loved to make my life miserable at times. Sometimes it was laughter or murder. Mom didn't allow us to kill each other, so it had to be laughter. I survived to write this, so I must have done something right.

I can't say my early adult years were too great. I married the wrong man and divorced after twelve years. That's what I got for not listening to my Dad. I lost one son to viral pneumonia while still married to my first husband, and my sixteen-year-old son died in a hunting accident shortly after I married my second husband. No, those years were not good. I'm not particularly eager to elaborate on them, so I won't.

After I married my second husband, I spent almost thirty years milking, herding, feeding, and talking to cows. So, if sometimes I seem a bit strange, I'm sure my readers will forgive me. Too much cow is not good for one's mental state.

I think that pretty much sums me up. I'm seventy-six, and I live with my dog, six cats, and my niece Cindy. I get bored at times and write silly stories on FanStory to pass the time. I doubt I will ever marry again unless I can find a guy who will put up with my cats and quirks.

I don't have a recent photo of myself so I used this one of my second husband and me in the late 1900s. My hair is short now and there may be a wrinkle here and there. Otherwise, I still look much the same.
