it can pull at your heart, the unknown

Infatuation

by Lulube

Infatuation
A strong pull at the heart could be
The beginning of a tug-of-war
Not wanted or expected, nor prepared
Finding head shaking in disbelief
For unreasonable, reasoning
Miles and miles, drift away
From buried treasure to discover
Perhaps nothing less than a quick trial

Infatuation
For the young and single
Stirs up courage that builds
To seek and to conquer
That which drives one crazy
Thoughts of another's life entwined
Shatters without absolution
Play safely behind the line
Till the eyes can clearly see

Infatuation
Danger for commitments
Obligations must be retained
Curiosity overwhelms the heart
With new, found, vibrant senses
That draw you into fantasies
A spark that ignites a passion
A memory, so long ago snuffed out
The unknown becomes the adulterer

Infatuation
Becomes a wonderment
For the old, weary and wise
Flattery burns on a blush
Heating inner strength, that awakens
To tame the heart's desires
Wisdom knows, the greener grass
Can evolve into thick, slippery mud
Destroying that which was cherished

Infatuation
Better left as it is, as it's been
Holding fondness and friendship
With an unforeseen wink of an eye
For that outcome, out of reach
And a nudge, nudge with
A tender, teasing for the heart
That's keeping the spark alive
Control, acceptance, ne'er to be forgotten

I think my first infatuation was in kindergarten. So many boys, all in the same room as me. Not like being at home with a younger brother, potty training, infatuation surfaced and I had my first boyfriend. Of course, the feelings grew over the years when struck, with yet, a few more, few, few more, attractions that infatuation needed to be tamed, put in control. I still hold many fond memories and once in a while, wonder what my life would have been like, had an infatuation, become a relationship in reality.

To my fanstorian Bro, cheers!!!
