In Conclusion

Most boys and girls
be they bald or curled
have a tale to tell
re: "Love's Labour Lost."
But at what cost?

Scarred memories
or memorable memoirs?
A few of these
and some of them.
I am assured.

Living such moments
made me stronger
as well as insecure.
Lessons learnt,
lessons taught.

Love's the yin and yang
of human experience.
You cannot have one
without the other.
This is life.

Heartaches and heartbreaks.
Bitterness and despair
are regularly recognized
after a rendezvous with
contentment and pleasure.

Yet, we continue on
seeking other conquests,
even though we know,
scars of wounded pleasure
will leave their mark.

Such as
walks in the park,
a kiss in the dark
a vase thrown that
parted your hair.

Whatever it is
that draws two together
sooner or later
will likely end
without being friends.

Shakespeare's proofs:
Cleopatra and Anthony,
& Benedict and Beatrice,
love-hate relationships
that ended badly.

And yet even bad
can have some good,
for Romeo and Juliet,
star-crossed lovers,
deaths ended a feud.

Othello didn't fare so well,
and in William's
Taming of the Shrew
the opposites attracted
concluded without a happy ending.

In conclusion,
understand, much depends
on how the he and she
want to view each other.
Be they lovers, or be they, friends?

I wander through Shakespeare's works, now and then, and found this title rang a bell on a subject I know rather well. Love forlorn, scorned and finally absorbed completely by a winning fare when I was twenty-nine.

Note: I thought to end with stanza six... will leave their mark, and thought it could hold its own but the clown in me wanted more so I continued on. Tell me which is better? six or 12 stanzas?
