A Few Things...

About Dad

by Boogienights

My dad smelled of cigar smoke,
of Old Spice aftershave,
a real love of fake wrestling,
is to me, what my dad gave.

He liked to eat green peppers
mixed with hamburger, a treat!
I'd pick the peppers out
when he gave me some to eat.

He liked to do the shopping,
and he'd take me right along.
I could keep him entertained,
with my favorite Monkee's song.

"A Pleasant Valley Sunday",
must have drove him up the wall.
But he just smiled at me,
and never complained at all.

He taught me the best values,
that would help to see me through.
Dad I wish you were still here,
so  once more, I could hold you.

My dad was great with everyone,
never once said things unkind.
Gentle and loving, with us kids,
the best dad you'd ever find.
