Our Love

by Janet Foor

A falcon flies at break of dawn.
He soars to greet the morning sun.
Then scales the highlands, skims the lakes
until his breakfast he has won.

Black stallions’ gallop o’er the Meade
beyond the sweeping pastureland.
Bucolic as it seems today --
there was a time this land was grand.

I’m drawn to these quaint moors and peaks
like summer on a winter day.
Majestic touch of old-world charm.
Surreal – a place I’d like to stay.

Dark clouds appear that break the spell.
Old shadows permeate my mind.
We’ve weathered sunshine, weathered rain.
through stormy gales, through winds refrain.

Now here we are at eventide --
tranquility engulfs the night.
In these serene and quiet times --
the love we share is my delight.

A chilly breeze blows through the hills.
Your warm embrace shuts out the cold.
Together we’ve been blessed by God.
Our love has grown a hundredfold.

A few years ago (before the pandemic) we traveled to England to celebrate our anniversary. We fell in love with Cornwall, the castles, cathedrals, rugged highlands, bluffs and open pastures with sheep and horses running wild.
We just celebrated another anniversary and I am reminded of how much our love has grown and how much I appreciate our life together. We are truly blessed.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
