The Blood Cries Out

by papa55mike

Dear Father,
I know You hear
the cry of anguish
from beneath the soil
it reaches a mother's ear
shattering her heart again
the blood
of her murdered son
cries out for justice

Oh Lord,
You hear the voices
of the many who died
fighting for the freedom
of our country
spilling their blood
on foreign soil
never seeing
their families again

Mighty God,
blood drips from His hands
and down the toes
pooling on the ground
friends have forsaken Him
leaving our Savior to die
on a tree of shame
but His dying
can lead all to salvation

I've seen blood spilled throughout our land. Senseless deaths that never receive equity, but I know that You are a God of justice. Come, Lord Jesus, riding on Your white horse with the sword of the Word, bringing Your rewards for the just and the unjust. Amen.

The world of Prayer Poems goes back to before the Psalms. Many of today's Hymns were once Prayer Poems. One summer, I found a book with Prayer Poems for Teachers and fell in love with them.

Many thanks for stopping by to read!
Have a great day, and God bless.
