A Little Dirt And Love

by Boogienights

Poem With These Words Contest Winner
I would love to run through puddles as a child,
if truth be known, I was a little wild.
The city park is where we'd go each day,
and stay until the sun faded away.

They had a bandstand there, on summer nights,
a band played music 'neath the strung up lights.
Mom brought a picnic, on the grass we ate,
so did mosquitos which I'd always hate.

Our mom made sure when we went we were clean,
later on, we were a sight best left unseen.
Filthy we got, but mom, she didn't care,
sweet memories were made, we'd later share.

Without money, we struggled in those days,
but joy was brought to us in many ways.
A little dirt and love's a potent thing,
the kind of thing that made our young hearts sing.
