A Time for Action

Lent 2022, Week 2 Contest Winner 
In the Christian Church, Lent is a time of
Fasting, abstinence, and penitence
In commemoration of Christ's
Lonely battle in the wilderness.

Lent for me is a time of self-examination
Time to ponder who I’m becoming
To self-reflect, take stock of my life
Am I living the life Christ would like?
 
Lent is not just about denial
Must I give something up?
Like chocolate, or social media
Acts of denial are okay, however…
 
My preference is to try to be a better me
Show loving kindness by helping others
To me doing rather than denying
Are the acts that Christ would prefer
 
I offer these good acts up to Christ
As I prepare myself to celebrate the
Unselfishness of His death to save us
And the glory of His resurrection at Easter
