The Life of a Sixer

For countless hours I toiled in thought
before its sweet release.
The poem held such elegance,
another masterpiece.

I clicked to post the work of art
that all would love so dear.
Then waited for reviews of praise
I knew would soon appear.

The first response was precious gold.
To life the sixer came.
A perfect birth began anew
the search for great acclaim.

Four more reviews applaud the piece
and gracefully bestow
the nourishment with five stars each
that only helped it grow.

I knew it'd reach the Well Received
for all here to adore,
but soon a newbie to the site
then slandered it with four.

The six-star rating dropped to five
and then it understood.
It longed to reach the front-page worth
but knew it never would.

So earnestly it fought to live,
with forty cents it tried.
Two more reviews just weren't enough,
then my dear sixer died.
