Poetry lifts my spirit

My Need For Poetry

My get up and go has gone o'er the hill.
I'm sad and troubled with failing eye sight.
Poe'try makes me happy, it gives me a thrill,
I think on it daily, from morn til night.

My daughter posts, if I write something new.
Soon, after posting the comments roll in.
I'm eager to watch to see how they do.
They light up my heart and broaden my grin.

They bring comfort for a broken old man,
who's looking forward for every day;
Who still writes poetry, whenever I can.
Until fate calls me, I'm planning to stay.

So, I'll keep writing til death says depart-
With ink in my pen and joy in my heart.
