My desire

by royowen

God's not impressed by man's good deeds,
nor fixing fences, breaking reeds.
For good trees always bear good fruit,
and bad ones manifest bad loot.

It's my desire to be like Him.
not caught out on ritual's limb.
I know my God cares not for fools
who spend their lives to follow rules.

God wants us all to grasp faith's realm,
to wear trust's robes and wear hope's helm.
His favour comes to those that wait,
and rest and trust in mercy's fate.

You know God wants your faith and trust,
to lean on him not sinful lust.
To be His child - devotion's seed,
and fill our souls with joy's great need.
