A loop poem for the contest

Long Way Home

by June Sargent

She navigates for thousands of miles,

miles of sapphire waters to find,

find the beach where she was born,

born with map etched in her mind,

mind linked to a magnetic field,

field distinctive to her birthplace.

Birthplace will be her nesting ground,

ground where hatchlings will have to race,

race to the ocean to survive,

survive if man shows some respect,

respect for the fragile web of life ~

life in which we all connect.

Loop Poetry Contest contest entry

Loop Poetry is a poetry form created by Hellon. There are no restrictions on the number of stanzas nor on the syllable count for each line. In each stanza, the last word of the first line becomes the first word of line two, last word of line 2 becomes the first word of line 3, last word of line 3 becomes the first word of line 4. This is followed for each stanza. The rhyme scheme is abcb.

Pays one point and 2 member cents.
